As in the United States and other countries in the world, individuals not residing in Australia who want to visit or work in Australia must obtain a visa. However, there is an exception to this rule, such as New Zealand residents are not required for a visa before entering Australia.

There are a number of places where residents can apply for a visa for Australia. The most accessibleare the Australian embassies located in the majority of countries around the world. Other sources are high commissions and consulates, travel agencies and airlines.

In general, there are four types of visas for Australia. The first is called Electronic Travel Authority visas, or ETA. This is an electronically stored permission to remain in Australia for a minimum of time. This is true for tourism and for commercial purposes and is free of charge by the Government.

The other type of visa is a tourist visa. Normally valid for a period of one year, the visa allows an owner of the travel and Australia with a maximum of three months after the trip. In contrast to ETA, tourist visas were government offices.

For those who want to do business in Australia, Business Visas are also available. Normally, business visas are valid for a period of five years.

Temporary visas are also available for those visiting Australia for some special entertainment, such as entertainment, sports competitions or short-term farm. Meanwhile, those who require temporary stay in Australia May be sponsored by an Australian or society.

The duration of stay visa must be strictly adhered to. If the visa is nearly expired and that the owner has to stay longer, you are strongly recommended, with the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs office in Australia. There are severe punishments for the perpetrators which could include never being allowed back into the country again.
